Merry Christmas for yesterday!

Hey Bookworms!!

Did everyone have a good Christmas? I hope you did!

Did you get any books? I haven't yet but I'm allowed to get a couple books for my kindle.

And a nice admin sent me the E-book for Mark of Athena! How nice is that?

And is it weird that most of my presents had birds on them? I got this cool hangy bird thingy and I got a jewellery  holder that's shaped like a bird in a bird cage and a stationery set that has birds on it. Well i do like birds....

Happy boxing day Bookworms!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is about a girl, Karou, who lives in Prague. She seems normal enough at a first glance, apart from her bright blue hair. She was brought up by monsters in "elsewhere" by Issa, Brimstone, Twiga, and Yasri. When she got older she got sent to schools and eventually moved away from Brimstone's shop to live in places all over the world with the latest one being in Prague. She attends an Art school with her friend Zuzana, has a creepy ex-boyfriend Kazmir, and has to juggle her life with helping Brimstone, by collecting teeth.  When one day she encounters Akiva, she can't shake off the thought of him.

I thought this book was great. It was really original and I loved it. I think that in a way it felt so realistic. Karou had the normal feelings of a teenage girl, she was angry at Kaz, for sharing their shared little secret, and she had Zuzana, who didn't know how to talk to this cute guy she worked with. It was all so normal yet so completely different from normal at the same time. She had a normal life but then there was her life with Brimstone.

I recommend this book for people who like fantasy. Check it out!

My opinion on books!

Books, they're paperback, hardcover, or digital pages of a different world. They describe places that either exist or don't but either way you want to go there. They have people inside of them that amaze you and that you fall in love with and they become your best friends. When you finish a book or a series you feel like there's something missing in your life until you find some more characters to share your life with. When you find a character that's just like you, they become a part of you.

Books have valuable life lessons, and even though you don't experience them yourself they make you into a better person and it's great.

Here's a quote from one of my favorite books (Inkheart by Cornelia Funke) which I think sums it up pretty well.

Some people may think reading is boring, or some people may think books are just for adults, or Adults may think adventure and fantasy books are just for kids, but they're so wrong. Up until the day I die, I will be searching all over the bookstore to find something good, no matter what my age.

Think about it, this is coming out of the head of a 14 year old girl, who is so passionate about books and reading. Why is it that so many of my generation and the generation before me are turning their backs on books and not reading and becoming almost illiterate? I don't know but I wish I could help people see that there is an adventure inside every book, and you don't even have to leave your house.

This is the reason I made this page, so I could share the things that I love with other people. Books are my love, my life, and my passion!

This is what goes through my mind when people say reading is boring.

Wattpad

Hey Bookworms!

Who here has Wattpad? I do! My username is Seashell22 if anyone's interested! I have a story on there it's called the stage, and i may not be the best writer and I really need to update more regularly but if anyone's interested check it out!

Now for all you non-wattpadders, Wattpad is a site (which is free to join) where you can write books and share them with others. You can read other people's books when you can't choose what book to read next (which I completely understand). It's pretty cool and if you are an avid reader or writer maybe you should check it out!

Have fun with that Bookworms!

cya's later! ox

Divergent

Divergent is a book about a life inside what they call factions. There are five factions, each representing a different quality in a person. Candor are truthful and they thought the war was because of lies, Abnegation are selfless and they thought the war was because of selfishness, Erudite are the knowledgeable and they thought the war was because of stupidity and not being knowledgeable enough and then there is the Dauntless, who are brave, they thought that the war was because of being scared. At sixteen, you have to choose a faction to live in. They have the saying "faction over blood" which means you have to put your faction first and if you chose to leave your family behind and transfer, there's no going back.

Beatrice Prior and her brother, Caleb, have just turned 16 which means it's time for them to choose. She picks Dauntless, and he picks Erudite, and they both leave their old faction, Abnegation, behind.

I think this was a great book! Veronica Roth did an amazing job in writing it! I feel like the characters are like my best friends now. Tris jumping off of the building first, her kissing Four, and when Tris' mum breaks in tank are my favorite parts in the book. I can't wait till the movie comes out, it's going to be awesome!!!!

I loved this book and you should all read it! If you're under 12 though, you probably shouldn't, you might get confused about one of Tris' fears, or you might not, but still, not recommended!

A little bit about what's gonna be on this blog :)

Hey dere Bookworms!

I'm Seashell (that's my nickname, my real name's Rochelle) and I am totally and utterly in love with books!

Every now and then I'll put up a review of what I've been reading or tell you about some books that I want etc. But whatever I put up here it'll be book related. I have one rule on this page though and that't NO HATE towards me or anyone!

I may occasionally post about me and tell you all stuff about my life though (and i'm sorry if it annoys anyone)

So yeah, I'll be uploading my first review soon, I just need to decide a book, and I'll have a lot of time considering school's just finished for the year! Woo!

I'll post again soon, Cya Bookworms
